Survey shows barriers to Web 2.0 in schools

The article is about the barriers of making schools switch to web 2.0. It also has a statement of a kid friendly web browser. It is called Netrekker.
I think that there should be more thought and dedication towards schools switching to web 2.0. It would provide students with the necessary tools to be successful in the online world. The online world needs more people that actually knows about it.
Future in Collaboration:
First off, it's very distracting when you read an article and there is a spelling mistake, in this case, "lightening." Or, maybe they actually mean they increased the brightness on the speed?
[/sarcasm]
This article explains the importance of people connecting with one another, sharing information, and fulfilling our need to interact with others. I agree deeply with said points; we should all be involved in some sort of online social networking site, wether it be Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, or any other site that allows you to connect with other individuals. If we didn't try to connect with others, how would we communicate information? Snail-mail? Although it may have sufficed back in the olden days, it does not deliver information that we need instantly, like the location of a friends house you are driving to.
So yeah, go social networking...

This article is basically stating that the more we collaborate, then the more we can learn and benefit from each other. That these types of technologies that allow us to do this goal are evolving at "lighting speed." As well of the fact that experts will be more motivated to do things on their own initiative, rather than being assigned.
5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration.

I think collaboration is a really good idea. I think that if collaboration networks were more popular with enterprises it would definitely benefit their enterprise. Because social networking has become one of the most popular things in the world over the past few years. And that's just it, its only been out for a few years. So if enterprises would use network collaboration, i think it would be easier for their name to get out in the business world and it would help promote their enterprise.
5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration
This article is talking about people sharing information with other people around the world.
I think everyone should be apart of some sort of a social networking site whether it be Facebook, twitter... A good reason for this is if you are a grandparent and you live far away from your grand kids and dont get to see them ever day and wish you could, If you are involved with a social network you can see recent pictures of them without driving all the way to see them, or hassling with a confusing email account.

Collaboration is definitely a good idea. It helps get ideas through to both the consumer and enterprises. When experts can share their ideas it helps them expand them into bigger and better things.
5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration
The article talks about how popular social-networking sites are, and how they businesses can profit from them.
Let me start off by saying I don't quite get social-networking sites in which you share detailed information about yourself such as Facebook and Twitter. The only type of social-networking sites I see as useful are Bulletin Boards (or forums) and wikis.
5 Predictions for the Future of CollaborationBrandon HolderThis article talks about network collaboration website and how they've helped in the IT field. It talks about how it's been more and more of a money making thing as time goes on. An example of a network collaboration website is Facebook. I have Facebook and love it. I don't have Twitter and from what I've seen of it, I don't care for it. One last thing, personally I think network collaboration websites are a VERY good thing. Thank You!!!

The article talks about social networking sites, and how there is potential profit available to businesses.
I believe collaboration is a very good thing. Social networking within the past five years has exploded in popularity. With this in mind enterprises really should use social network collaboration as a form of promotion for their businesses name.
Survey shows barriers to Web 2.0 in schools
The article talks about the drive for the adaption of Web 2.0 technologies in school. A survey was taken on teachers and students reactions to the us Web 2.0 in schools. This survey showed a concern about online safety for many people.
There are different interpretations of what Web 2.0 really is, but it mostly seems to talk about new online tools available for people like social networking. Personally I like the idea of being able to interact with other students on a secure online school chat room. I think that would help in the overall communication in the school and make it easier to r4ecieve school announcements as well. The only thing is making sure that Web2.0 is secure enough for school use.

5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration
Businesses in our modern society have the need to communicate with each other, no matter if it is through telephone, e-mail, or any other forms that are internet based. Social networking tools, I think, would GREATLY help when it comes to doing business. Being the VP for TSA, I have experienced how Facebook has helped our officer team communicate with each other. I think that this could only benefit businesses when it comes to online communication.
Survey Shows Barriers On Web 2.0 in Schools
Web 2.0 has become a huge part of our daily lives. We use it to keep up with information, keep up with each others lives, and just because we're bored. The problem here isn't whether or not Web 2.0 will thrive, but how can we use it in the school system?
Many teachers today are not for using the internet and changing the "traditional" way of teaching. Not to mention, alot of the teachers just plain out don't know anything about technology. As it was said in the article, about 3/4s of the schools involved in this poll said they would be converting to computers to better their education methods. But what about eh other 1/4? Do they not like web 2.0? Well the answer is that most teachers don't want to learn. Many have been teaching for 20 years, and for the last 15 years of their teaching, they don't want to learn something different. So many educators are very ignorant to new technologies that could better students today. Many students drop out because of how boring class is, but with web 2.0, school will be so much better!
Twitter allows students to share ideas while not interupting the class. Google docs allows students to write papers together without having to go home and write a section and then copy and paste it. Google docs also allows teachers to revise and put notes on sentences. Animoto makes powerpoints SOO MUCH BETTER!!! There is so much technology today, but educators are becoming so ignorant to them. With this technology, the lives of students can be changed, and especially the drop out rate can be changed too.
Get glad with web 2.0!
Collaboration, Attempt #2
First off, it's very distracting when you read an article and there is a spelling mistake, in this case, "lightening." Or, maybe they actually mean they increased the brightness on the speed? I really don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to join in on social networking. Sure, some may say that its “lame-stream” and they don’t want to conform, but there are plenty of “underground” places you can go to connect to others. Twitter, for example, used to be one (although now its being pulled into the mainstream). Collaborating with other people can provide immense rewards: you can find jobs, new friends, or, if you’re into it, relationships, via site like eharmony. There are countless ways to use the different collaboration methods on the web. In the future, it is predicted that most companies will check for you on the internet, basically like a pre-interview. So, watch what you put on the web (you wouldn’t want your boss to find those pictures of you drunk in your party albums on facebook ;) )

This article is about teacher’s and student’s drive towards adaptation of Web 2.0 technologies in school. A survey that was taken on teachers and student’s reactions to the Web 2.0 in schools show a concern on online safety.
There are many different views of what Web 2.0 really is, but the article mostly seems to talk about new online tools available for people like the kid-friendly search engine netTrekker. Personally I like the idea of being able to interact with other students on a secure online school friendly chat room. I believe that it would be very help in the overall communication within the school and make it easier to do many things such as receiving school announcements over the internet. The only problem with this is that Web 2.0 Technologies needs to be secure enough for use at schools.
In the past, bigger companies have been somewhat of a mystery on the interpersonal level. Companies never really connected with the individuals that use their products and/or business. With web 2.0 on the horizon, companies have realized that interpersonal relationships can be established through the use of social networking. Companies such as Hewlett Packard are using Twitter to to connect with its customers. They release important product announcements and and new features via Twitter on a regular basis. By using Twitter, they deliver information to thousands of followers each day.
So in theory, collaboration of companies and social networking is a valuable tool and the way of the future.
5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration
Summary: This article talks about social networks, that in the future, may be used to collaborate ideas and get the best results possible.
In my opinion, I think more businesses should use social networks to collaborate ideas. Businesses have learned that communicating with other businesses, whether it be through e-mail or telephone, has been useful in developing a better company. There are many benefits to using these social networks. When you use these websites, you are able to collect more data than you would if you were in a meeting with only 10 to 20 people. Another business aspect is promotion. When using these social networks, you are promoting your business.
The Future of Collaboration
Codi Slawson
The article talks of getting more in touch with social networking, as well as all associated with it. Compared to earlier times, when facebook, myspace, and twitter were still just outside the mainstream, there is big deal about each.
Facebook is becoming a reference for employers all over the country. Employers want to know the "real you", not the person they see at meetings. Twitter is becoming a huge information site. The stock market news shows, like CNBC, use twitter to post information on stocks to watch.
Without social networking where would we be? It is probably one of the most important ideas used. Information is everything, especially in times like these.
Up with social networking!
5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration
I agree that social networking is a very prosperous and resourceful source of information whether it be who's dating who or the latest news in Tech. Most of everyone is connected in some way; Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace. These Platforms can be very useful like getting the latest news on twitter or promoting your band on myspace. These social networks can also be used by buisnesses to promote their products like threadless on twitter updating the latest news about their clothing. They're main purpose though, is to connect others together, this allows people can learn from each other instantly.
It's interesting when we watch the sudden explosiveness of online collaboration. This collaboration has been defined as web 2.0. The term web 2.0 is over used and often irritates people by the incorrect frequent use of the term. Web 2.0 is probably one of the most appropriately named terms. The internet has always been intended to share information quickly, with the explosion of web 2.0 this sharing of information has been revolutionized.
Social networking is one of those things that needs to be taken very seriously, but at the same time it needs to be handled very carefully. The web 2.0 market is very new and locking a company into a web 2.0 service could be very risky.
Social networking and online collaboration isn't going away any time soon, but we need to make sure the services chosen have matured enough for corporate use.
5 Predictions for the Future of Collaboration
Brittany Harrington
This article is about people communicating with other people, by using collaboratively websites. like Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedln. Business people think that collaboration is a way to boost productivity and gain competitive advantage within tight budget constraints. All of these websites are rapidly growing because people want to be able to communicate with friends, family, employees, and people around the world.
I agree with the article facebook, twitter and other websites are getting bigger and bigger.
Survey shows barriers to Web 2.0 in schools
-Kyle McDonald
I think that web 2.0 is risky but we can get around that and when we do get around it and more schools start to use it we will start to see improvement in all of the academics because the students have more resources at their disposal. The downfall is that student will most definitely abuse their privileges
This article mainly talks about how many of these collaboration websites are becoming bigger and bigger due to the meed to be able to communicate with other networks. This increasing need is sparking more and more people to use these sites more and more. So I do agree with the article when they say that websites like Facebook, Twitter And any other website like that are growing more and more every day.
Kevin Lang- Web 2.0
In the online world there is an increasing demand for people to connect with other people. It gives people chances to get themselves out to other people faster and more efficiently. Facebook is used by employers and employees all the time to conduct interviews. Twitter is used by stocks and other corporations to get there information out to many people at an alarming rate at which in the past we could not do. Where would we be if we did not have the online world. Many businesses could not progress as fast or technologies would grow to be popular.
